Regular visits to the Dentist and good oral hygiene help to prevent toothache and dental emergencies.

 

Unfortunately, it is sometimes unavoidable, and you may experience pain, bleeding, swelling or an injury. Please call us as soon as you are experiencing issues. You may require an emergency appointment. In this case, we advise that you phone us early in the morning. The reception team will assist you. We have appointments available daily, and each case will be triaged. We will aim to see you on the same day.

Out-of-hours Emergency care

If you experience pain or require emergency assistance when we are closed, evenings (6:00 pm – 8:00 pm), weekends, or bank holidays, please call the practice and follow the advice on our answerphone.

 

If you are suffering from severe pain, swelling, or bleeding, you may need to visit A&E or call NHS 111 for further advice.

 

Plan members are covered for Accident & Emergency Dental insurance Benefit. Emergency cover induced Dental treatment provided to a Plan Member for the immediate relief of severe pain, trauma, swelling or bleeding.

 

Plan members can claim a portion of out-of-hours emergency fees, subject to meeting the necessary criteria.  A £10.00 fee is deducted from any paid claims. Refer to the terms and conditions included in your membership registration. Please ask the reception team if you need any information.

 

All claims require supporting documents from the treating clinician; ensure you receive these at your emergency appointment. 

  • Receipt of payment.
  • Statement, including details of treatment received.
  • In some cases, clinical notes.

(If you are travelling abroad, these must be in English; translation fees may be deducted from any claims).

Non urgent issues

Non-urgent issues may include;

  • A broken tooth
  • A lost filling
  • A loose crown, bridge or veneer
  • Sensitivity

 

Please contact us as soon as possible. The reception team will endeavour to book you the next available appointment.

 

Painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen can help you manage any pain. Always follow the dosage instructions for any pain medication.

ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY COVER BENEFITS FOR PLAN MEMBERS ONLY

Emergency Treatment Benefits

We will pay for Emergency Treatment up to the maximum value of £500 per incident worldwide, with an annual aggregate limit of £1,000 provided that such Treatment is received by the Plan Member during the Period of Cover. An excess of £10 is applicable to each and every incident.

Treatments will be covered where the Plan Member requires Treatment away from their Registered Practice (after making all reasonable efforts to attend their Registered Practice), or at their Registered Practice outside of their published opening hours.

All charges for Treatment must be reasonable, fair, clinically necessary and in line with the normal published treatment charges of the treating dental practice.

 

Treatment Following Accident

If a Plan Member requires Treatment following an Accident occurring during the Period of Cover, benefit will be paid for the cost of such Treatment up to the limits specified below, up to a maximum annual aggregate of £12,000.

Treatment must be carried out by the Plan Member’s Registered Practice unless in an emergency.

If Treatment costs are likely to exceed £400 the Plan Member must call Lloyd & Whyte Ltd on 01823 250700 to obtain our prior approval.

 

Hospital Benefit

If a Plan Member is admitted to hospital as an In-Patient, as a direct result of a dental Accident or for Emergency Dental Treatment. We will pay £85 for each complete 24 hours the Plan Member remains in hospital under the care of a Specialist.

 

Oral Cancer

If a Plan Member is diagnosed with Oral Cancer we will pay the Plan Member up to £3,000 cash benefit. We will only pay this sum for Oral Cancer once the Plan Member has been referred to a Specialist by their general practitioner or Dentist.

 

 Permanent Facial Disfigurement

If a Plan Member suffers Permanent Facial Disfigurement as a result of an Accident during the Period of Cover We will pay the Plan Member the appropriate benefit according to the severity of the scaring as follows:

  • Scarring up to 5 cms long in total length – £55
  • Scarring more than 5 cms but less than 8 cms in total length – £110
  • Scarring 8 cms or more in total length – £550 al length – £550
